Hello! I’m Bev, the founder of HoneyFanatic.com.
Thanks so much for exploring my site. This website’s purpose is to be a friendly platform for sharing knowledge about honey for enhanced health, beauty, and healthier recipes. This site also shares simple natural remedies for everyday living.
I am not a beekeeper, medical doctor, or health guru, but I am very passionate about the amazing benefits of honey. I’ve witnessed how it has helped my family and friends, and I’d like to share what I’ve learned with you.
This blog is also a place for sharing my wellness journey and what I’ve discovered along the way. I feel empowered when I explore natural cures that are simple, gentle and effective; and I marvel at the enormous impact that one small change can make in a person’s life.
What Started it All?
A few years ago, I received the dreaded phone call. My mother, who was more important to me than air, was dying. I forced myself on the airplane knowing what awaited me. I arrived on a Thursday, watched Mom die on Friday, and I was back to work on Monday. My gentle mother had been through months of traditional medicine for the disease that was ravaging her body.
I watched a happy soul turn into just a shell of herself as she bounced from one doctor to another. “Let’s try this, let’s try that,” they would announce when nothing was working. She became the sacrificial guinea pig, and I became less and less hopeful as I watched her life slowly leave.
The entire experience was something that I hid carefully in the back of my mind, hoping never to open it again. But I was forced to do so when I became sick. My illness was not life threatening, but it did affect my quality of life. I didn’t want to go through any of what mother had experienced.
And that’s when I remembered Grandpa. When I was just a girl, my American Indian Grandpa came to live with us. This wise old man had a very different approach to healing and wellness. He believed that nature held the key to well-being. His path to curing was gentle, natural, and therapeutic. His use of herbs and plants was impressive, and he had such respect for the Earth. My mother told us stories of how, when she was growing up, her family never saw a doctor; instead Grandpa would go out in the woods to obtain from the earth whatever was needed to heal them.
I decided to follow his course of healing by harnessing the natural bounties of the earth.
One ingredient he was particularly fond of was honey. He used it daily and extolled its many virtues. To gain back my health, I decided to go down the path Grandpa showed me those many years ago. I started learning as much as I could about natural ways of healing, and I became just as enchanted with honey as Grandpa had been.
My journey has been incredible and not always easy, and I am still learning. Today I feel better and look more beautiful than I have in ages.
On any given day, you will often find me exploring different types of honey, and I am a mad professor as I turn my kitchen into a laboratory as I try out recipes. I am constantly on the lookout for new scientific discoveries that confirm what has been known for centuries – that honey is a gift to man and has amazing qualities.
Am I against the medical profession? No. That is not the message of this blog. There are well-meaning doctors who are real heroes. Instead, this blog is a place where we can empower one another to take more of an active part in our wellness and to create a path, in some instances, where there was none.
