I simply love chocolate – in all its forms. Give me a chocolate bar and I’m one happy gal. Chocolate represents happy times, romantic times. But is it beneficial to use it on your skin? Many civilizations have realized the beneficial qualities of the cocoa bean and have used them for centuries. Today we are discovering the many benefits of consuming dark chocolate for heart health.
It a known fact that many spas around the globe use chocolate routinely in their skin care treatments. Did you know that chocolate is beneficial for your skin? It stimulates circulation and is full of antioxidants. It has more antioxidants than many raw fruits such as strawberries! It moisturizes the skin due to its glyceride component, and it has vitamin E for skin softening.
Let’s whip up a couple of body care products with chocolate. If you add honey, then you are really increasing the value of your product. Your skin will be soft and richly moisturized and you’ll smell good enough to eat. So you don’t need to take a trip to a spa and drop a large coin to enjoy these recipes.
Remember your skin is your largest organ and protects your body. And what is happening on the inside shows up on the outside. So, let me ask you, what is the appearance of your skin? Is it healthy looking and glowing? Or does it leave a lot to be desired? For most of us, there are certain places where our skin doesn’t get the attention it deserves – elbows and heels (hint, hint), or maybe we don’t do anything to the parts of our skin that aren’t seen in public, such as our backs, thighs, etc.

Chocolate Honey Body Mask
12 Tablespoons of cocoa powder
4 Tablespoons of raw honey
Before you begin, run a nice warm bath for soaking in after the mask has dried on your skin. If you really want to get in the mood, light a few beeswax candles in your bathroom.
Here’s what you do:
Combine the honey and cocoa powder and heat over hot water or in the microwave for a few seconds until well blended and spreadable. You don’t want to heat it too hot because you don’t want to destroy the beneficial enzymes in the honey.
Now spread a thin layer of the mixture over your body with a small brush. Do this while the mixture is still warm. Ooh la la….. Allow this chocolate honey body mask to cool down and dry.
Now soak in the tub while allowing the mask to gently be removed. If you don’t have time for a bath, a nice warm shower will do the trick. Make sure you remove all the mask from your skin.
Pat your skin dry and follow with coconut oil, jojoba oil or a body lotion of your choice. Your skin should feel extremely soft and look amazing.
Chocolate causes certain endocrine glands to secrete hormones that affect your feelings and behavior by making you happy. Chocolate Vanilla Body Scrub
5 Tablespoons cocoa powder
1 or two drops vanilla extract
1/3 cup oatmeal
1/2 cup ground almonds
1 tablespoon raw honey
Milk or yogurt to make a paste
Here’s what you do:
Combine everything except the honey and milk (or yogurt) in a food processor until it looks like coarse meal. Pour in a bowl. Mix the milk (or yogurt) and honey together until well blended and then add to the almond mixture. If you need to add more milk to make a paste, do so at this point. Scoop out the mixture and rub all over your body in a gentle motion. Rinse thoroughly. This scrub will slough off dead skin cells and clarify the skin. It will help with stimulation and circulation and will leave your skin soft and silky.
