What an odd combination – seaweed and honey. But when you take a closer look, this combination is very powerful for the skin, especially if you want to lessen or avoid wrinkles, sagging and unhealthy looking skin. Why is this?
Seaweed is a water plant that extracts loads of minerals and vitamins from the sea. It is an oriental “secret” that has been used for thousands of years to treat skin conditions and improve the appearance of the skin. It is especially helpful in regaining elasticity and moisture of the skin.
Many luxurious spas around the globe have tapped into this oriental “secret” and use seaweed in many of their treatments. Have you ever had a seaweed face mask at a spa? Or what about a seaweed wrap? They realize that seaweed is excellent for exfoliating dead skin cells, detoxing impurities, and supplying the skin with vital minerals.
Another benefit of seaweed is its rich iodine profile. Iodine is critical to good health and thyroid function. Just think about this – in today’s world, many foods are packaged and processed so much, most of the nutrients have been stripped right out of the food. The farming methods used today have also depleted the soil of vital nutrients, and so it’s no wonder that people today are sicker and less beautiful than years ago.
And when we look at honey, we find a plethora of benefits. Honey is a perfect food, supplying the body with vitamins, minerals, and good sugars. It is antibacterial and antifungal. It has been used for centuries to treat a number of medical conditions such as digestive issues, skin issues, wound care, respiratory issues, and the list goes on and on. Many beautiful women of the past have attributed honey to helping keep their skin gorgeous.
A wonderful benefit of honey is that it is a humectant. It pulls water out of the air, and that means that when you use it on your face, it helps to keep your skin dewy and moist.
So now that we’ve discussed a little about the benefits of seaweed and honey, let’s create an easy DIY seaweed face mask with honey. This is a very powerful mask, and when you use it regularly, you will definitely see a difference in your skin’s appearance and glow.
