Are you trying to get rid of chapped lips? Are you seeking a remedy for chapped lips? If so, you’re at the right place. I have a simple cure that works really fast. But before I reveal the cure, let’s find out the reason for chapped lips, so that we can eliminate the problem from starting in the first place, because you have control over this condition in most cases.
Chapped lips are the result of dryness or the evaporation of moisture. Lips have a natural protective barrier, a very thin oily film, that keeps them moist. But, when that barrier is removed, this causes your lips to become chapped. Of all the skin on your body, lips are the most susceptible to drying out. You can lose up to 10 times more moisture through your lips than anywhere else on your body! No wonder our poor lips are so vulnerable.
There are many reasons for chapped lips. Winter weather conditions, low indoor humidity and excessive licking of your lips all contribute to the condition. Once you begin to lose moisture, your lips become fragile and in severe cases can develop tiny splits and cracks. They may even bleed, and boy are they painful at this point.
But what can you do about it? What is the remedy for chapped lips? Keep them moist. Skin heals better when we keep it moist. It is important to form a barrier that seals in moisture while providing additional hydration, and you’ll need an agent to help seal cracks and splits from irritation and possible infection.
Honey is an excellent choice for so many reasons. First of all, honey is antibacterial and antimicrobial, stimulating regrowth and renewal. Because honey is so rich in vitamins, sugar, and minerals, it can be used to treat infection and skin disorders. It acts as a humectant, holding moisture. Another advantage of honey is that it does not irritate the skin. And, it tastes good, unlike many over-the-counter preparations.
Do you want an easy remedy for chapped lips? Well, first of all, remember to use a good quality honey, preferably Manuka honey. It is known for its medicinal properties and really heals the skin. Leave the little honey bear in the pantry for this one.
