No, it’s not a recipe where you whip up something to eat, it is a combination of “ingredients” that together will pack a powerful punch in helping you to stay young looking. Those who surround themselves with people they want to look like, often achieve this goal. Why? There is the old saying that you become like those you associate with. I have two older friends who hang out with people who are at least 10 years younger than they are. As a result, they tend to dress younger, and they continue to engage in activities they would probably have dumped years ago due to their ages.
They also talk about and concern themselves with “younger” subjects. My girlfriends, instead of sitting home and giving all the reason why they can’t do something, instead they regularly explore new things, they book that cruise, and they go to that party even though they have to be at work the next day. In other words, they don’t let life pass them by, and they continue to do things that stimulate them. This in turn, leads to a better attitude about life in general, and they tend to actually look younger.
2. Keep Moving
I’m sure you heard it over again and over again, but it’s worth repeating – “Exercise helps your body to stay toned and keeps it younger looking.“ As we age, our muscles and skin start to sag and loose elasticity.
Picture a rubber band that has been stretched and left in the hot sun for months. If you try to wrap that rubber band around a stack of mail, it would be difficult, and you would find that it won’t snap back. It might even break immediately. And the reason is because it has lost its elasticity. Just like our bodies when we don’t exercise as we get older.
So, get moving. You don’t have to run a marathon every day, just start out very slowly and get outside and walk. Start with 10 minutes per day, then 15, then 20, and before long, you will be walking 30 – 45 minutes each day. Include lifting exercises 2 – 3 times per week, and you’ve got yourself a simple, easy plan for your body. Many people report the self-confidence and positive mental outlook exercise provides. They walk taller, have better mental clarity, and have a general feeling of well-being. Gotta love that!
3. Cucumbers and Honey (The Secret Weapon)
It has been reported that Cleopatra consumed pickled cucumbers, along with milk and honey on her skin to help her maintain a very youthful appearance.
About 5 years ago, there was a co-worker of mine who looked fabulous. She had a radiant glow, and I fell over when I found out she was 45 years old. I swear she didn’t look a day over 30. She revealed her secret – cucumbers and honey. She ate one cucumber per day and used honey on her face at least once a week. That was it.
