What Is Acacia Honey?
Of all the honey I’ve tasted, I’d have to say that Acacia honey is right up there in terms of what really makes me happy 🙂 What is the best honey in the world? Many consider it to be just that! Read all about this amazing honey below and see if it tempts you to run out and buy a jar.
This honey is very pale. If it hasn’t been mixed with other floral sources, it will look like liquid glass, very exquisite indeed. It has a mild, sweet, floral flavor; and is, therefore, one of the most popular honey varieties. It is a good choice for mixing with beverages because it sweetens without changing the taste of the drink. It is also an excellent choice for cooking because of its mild flavor and because it mixes easily in liquids and batters. It has hints of vanilla flavor and no aftertaste. What Are Its Characteristics?
Acacia honey is slow to crystallize. This means that it can remain in a liquid state for a long period of time due to its high concentration of fructose.
Where Does Acacia Honey Come From?
Interestingly enough, there is quite a bit of confusion about where this honey actually comes from. Acacia honey is from the black locust tree, (also called “false” Acacia) native to North America. This tree is also found in Europe, and in this region, it is called Acacia, although the honey does not come from true acacias. In fact, in America, this honey is sometimes labeled Black Locust or American Acacia.
Are There Any Medicinal Benefits?
Yes, there are many. In spite of its sweetness, Acacia honey has a very low sucrose content and a high fructose level, so it is the best choice for diabetics. It is known for its therapeutic qualities because it cleanses the liver, conditions the intestines, and is beneficial for the respiratory system due to antibacterial properties – another benefit of honey.
What is unique about this honey?
You’ll often see cut honeycomb in the Acacia honey jar since its clarity and pale color allow the comb to be seen through the jar. Because of its mild flavor, it can easily be blended with other types of honey.
So, as you can see, Acacia honey has quite an impressive “resume”. But, my friend, the only way to find out if it’s the best honey in the world, is to taste it. 🙂
One of my favorite ways to use this honey is on a piece of crusty bread. I will usually split the loaf, toast the bread to a golden color, and then slather a dollop of rich, creamy butter on top. Then I will drizzle Acacia honey over this tasty, earthy treat. Yummy. I like to eat it with a hunk of salty cheese and a glass of wine……. heaven…..
How many of you have ever tasted Acacia honey? Do you think it is the best honey in the world? If not, what is the best honey in the world, in your opinion? Leave a comment below.
Dear All,
My name is Maria José from the company Feysol Nature in Granada (Spain)
We want to buy organic honey in drums of 300 kg, have available?
Thank you
Best regards
Hello: Sorry but I don’t sell honey in drums. Thanks.
Has anyone tried mornings honey? It is awesome in taste and makes your tastebuds tinkling.
Hi Sanjeev: No I’ve never tried mornings honey and have never heard of it. Interesting!
Sourwood honey is the best I’ve ever had. I’m looking forward to trying the Acacia honey.
This is great! Recently I was diagnosed with having fat on my liver. In an effort to be more healthy I decided to use acacia honey to sweeten my coffee.
What a smart move as when I used sugar I could taste it, but now with acacia honey I only taste its sweetness, and this enhances the flavour of the coffee.
And to know that it’s also good for the liver is a bonus!
I’m looking forward to trying it hot buttered toast, that sounds yummy. What a wonderful service our honey bees do for us!
Nice informations I really liked them .
Great post, and great site! Bev, your description of Acacia honey is right on. However, as to whether it is the best… my theory is honey, like wine, ought to be appreciated for its peculiar characteristics. Sometimes you want the mild flavor and intense sweetness of Acacia, sometimes you want the intense earthiness of Chestnut, etc. So great that we have such a variety to enjoy!
Daniel: Couldn’t have said it better!! Thanks so much for stopping by 🙂
To say what is the best honey in the world would be hard and maybe unfair to do as each honey has it’s own purpose and is unique in a way. It also depends how we look at it… I love honey and I’m using it everyday, for breakfast, tea, or to sweeten my dessert, salads, etc. but more than anything else I find it therapeutic, healing and using it during times of deseases. I love acacia, but if I would have to chose, it would be sage! Except for specific aroma, it is extremely healthy! I use honey from Croatian island of Hvar where bees are pasturing many healing, aromatic plants like rosemary, heather, lavender and sage.
Hi Mirjana: Thanks for your insightful comments about honey. The honey from Croatian Island of Hvar sounds amazing and very therapeutic. I’d love to try it someday. Thanks for stopping by!
Who do you buy hvar honey from?
Best in the world only honey I would consider for coffee
Best in the world!
Acacia for sure is one of the best, all pure honeys are just amazing. Have u ever tried, Ziziphus mauritiana honey its also very good.
good writing about acacia honey.
Hello Tauseef Ahmad: No I’ve never tried Ziziphus Mauritiana honey. I’ll have to put it on my list of honeys to try! Thanks 🙂
Beverly
Thank you for you insight concerning Acacia honey.
I got some imported from Sweden. I’ve eaten probably about every kind of honey there is. I used to think Tupelo or Sage was the best. this Acacia Blossom Honey mild has to be on top of my 60 plus years of honey eating.
thanks again
I absolutely love Acacia honey, I just got a beautiful honeycomb in the mail today that I bought as a Christmas present. Is it the best honey in the world? In my opinion, it’s a close second, outranked only by the buttery goodness of the amazing Tupelo honey!
Hello Mae: Yum, a beautiful honeycomb to enjoy!! I love both acacia and tupelo and I’d be hard pressed to pick out an absolute favorite! 🙂
By far Yemen Sidr Honey is the best honey I ever tried. Much better than Manuka Honey. However, it is worth trying both if you can afford it 😉
Hi John: I’d love to taste Yemen Sidr Honey as I heard it was very, very good. I like manuka honey more for skin care and other medical applications. I rarely eat it because it tastes too strong for my liking.
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
“Bee” Amazing,
Bev
Yemen sidr honey is not the best. From experience Acacia is the best
I love acacia honey. However, to me, black forest honey is the best! But each type of honey is so unique, there really cannot be a “best” honey, could there?
Hi Abdul: I going to have to agree with you. Each honey is so unique and people’s taste are too. It’s impossible to say what honey is the best. But acacia honey, in my opinion, is right up there at the top (LOL). Thanks so much for stopping by.
I’ve never tried acacia honey but after reading your comments, I’m ordering some today. Leather Bark honey from Tasmania, is also pretty good.
Christopher: You will simply love acacia honey. Haven’t met anyone who doesn’t like it; unless, of course, they just don’t like honey. Enjoy 🙂
I never liked honey until i tried Acacia honey now i love it lol
I think clover is one of the best
Hi Robert: I agree 🙂
I grew up with this honey and sooo missed it. It will be in my kitchen always
Mine too!!! 🙂
Tupelo honey is my favorite, I bought acacia honey in the comb and it also is very good. Tupelo never sugars up and there is some variation depending on the rain when Tupelo is in bloom as far as intensity of flavors. If any one has suggestions for using the comb please email me, right now I chew a small amount from time to time in the comb and then, much as you would gum, I consolidate the wax and I am presently saving the chewed ball of wax !
Raw Acacia honey is one of my favourite. It’s pure, fragrant and very healthy. Rich in anti-inflammatory properties and can be used for skincare as well as just eating however, only raw acacia honey has health the benefits. I think Hungarian Acacia honey is the best of all! 🙂
I tried Acacia but for me still the best honey I have ever had is Kars Karakovan honey. Nothing even gets close to that. It comes from a small city in Turkey by Armenian border. Maybe it’s the high elevation or the extreme cold winters (-40C) or the type of bees I don’t know but you just dig your spoon and can’t stop.
I’ve just been given two bottles of Organic raw Acacia honey bought in the America. This honey apparently comes from India, the Himalayas certified by ECOCERT. It’s bottled in the united states.
Tow things I find strange about it, one that its called Acacia honey these trees do not grow in the Himalayas, not even real Acacia grows there but certainly not “false Acacia” which is what is used to make Acacia honey. Secondly it doesn’t taste anything like Acacia honey, slightly bland with a strange slightly bitter after taste like citrus oil almost.
Im wondering what and where this honey really comes from?! It’s mildly granulated honey and quite dark, two other characteristics completely unlike Acacia honey?! Anyone know?
Buyer beware! It says collected from the wild but certainly as far as I know there aren’t commercialy available quantities of this in the wild even to be selling all over the world? The honey there is incredibly difficult to collect for domestic use never mind export.
Anton: The characteristics you describe are very strange indeed for acacia honey because this type of honey is very light in color and does not granulate very easily. You may try to contact them (see if they have a webpage) and ask questions about their honey. Please report back as I’m interested in what they say.
Bev
Hi,
Acacia honey ,Linden honey and forest flower honey from Romania are the best. It’s a 2000 years old tradition in the region and the people still use traditional methods to extract the honey. No processing. The best advantage is that Romania still has virgin forests and a very fertile soil making this landscape paradise for bees and beekeepers. I am Romanian but live abroad and i always bring honey from back home… as silly as it may seem to travel 14 hours with jars of honey :)))
Hi Laura: Not silly at all to travel 14 hours with jars of honey!! It’s wonderful to find a great acacia honey where you know the origin and that tastes amazing. Enjoy your honey and I hope you don’t run out. If you do that’s a good reason to make a trip back home 🙂
Yes Acacia honey is one of the best in the world, from various parts of Europe and Eastern Europe. The reason for this is its unadulterated flavour of pure honey. Other honeys have very specific dominating flavours like citrus or clover etc wherever the bees collect, making the honey taste overwhelmingly in this case like citrus for example. However Acasia is very lightly floral so the predominant taste is of pure clean honey with a high clean floral taste rather than any heavy flavourings. It’s lightness is what gives it its quality both in texture and flavours. The blandest honeys are produced on agricultural crops like rape, canola, sunflower these are very commercial honeys with hardly any floral notes at all. Try smelling the flowers and you will se they don’t have much of anything, they are often blended with other honey sold in bulk. Acacia honey is also commercialy produced but is much more expensive as there is less of it and it commands high prices because of its quality. Generaly the darker the honey the less palatable, sometimes the price is high like with Manuka honey this is because it has other properties like healing wounds rather than gastronomical value. Manuka is eaten but it’s not considered good eating compared to Acacia it’s far too complex and high in antiseptic agents to be considered on the same level. Of the other honeys temperate wild flower honey is always better, tropical forest honeys can also be of the Manuka quality generaly being a complicated over powering flavour that’s not always agreeable, depends on the season and what trees are flowering at the time. Some of the most exquisite tasting honeys are wild ones collected in places like the Middle East and drier parts of Africa these are not commercial honeys and can only be purchased locally though in some places like Oman it’s possible to buy them commercialy. The bees collect from date palms and the honey is on par with the best Acacia honeys.
Its really good for sore throat. Gargalwithsalt in warm tea
Thanks for your post. I´m beekeeper in Spain and acacia honey is not well-known.
Only in north Spain there are some small production, but in those years with too much rain in June, beehives can not collect a single drop of acacia- robinia nectar.
Most of spanish population don´t know this honey and only take other local honey.
Thanks
Hi Alberto: Love and respect beekeepers around the globe!! Appreciate your input about acacia honey.
“Bee” Amazing,
Bev
I just got back from the Big Island of Hawaii again. They have a very special honey there. The Ohia Lehua Blossom is by far the best most sweetest honey I have ever had. There are red, yellow, orange, pink and white lehua blossoms. The Ohia bush grows right out of the lava rock. You can see them everywhere when hiking at Volcano’s National Park. I would recommend this honey to anyone who loves raw organic honey. I got my jar at Big Island Bee’s.
Hi Don: That sounds delicious!!!
I first had it in my other’s hometown in Italy and it was instant love! This is my favorite honey to use although any honey that the Carfagani family makes is truly delicious.
Hello!
I am a diabetic and since you mentioned this honey is good for diabetics I wonder if you know how many grams of sugar is in this honey compared to others ? ….and does it not raise the blood sugar in diabetics ?
Thanks!
Donna 🙂
Hello Donna:
Acacia honey has a higher concentration of fructose and a lower sucrose content than most other honeys. That why it is a better choice for diabetics. But, because everyone reacts differently, I would suggest you speak with your doctor about it and see if honey can be included as a food choice for you. I appreciate your question and your support!
“Bee” Healthy,
Bev
I have a very important question to ask, does this honey come from the bee or not? I’m asking this because my wife has a severe allergic reaction to the natural honey.
Thanks in advance!
Yes it does.
Where can I buy Acacia honey? I’m a starving prisoner in North Korea and will be free in approximately nine years time – I have never tasted honey so am looking forward to this taste when I have completed my interment at Kaechon concentration camp. Do you recommend an outlet in North Korea where honey can be purchased.
loc-li-koi
Hi: I’m sorry but I’m not familiar with the market in Korea. Once you get out, I’m sure you will be able to locate honey. I wish you the best -)
Ive been a beekeeper 35 years & made a trip to Europe where I tasted the different honey flavored at markets there. Acacia being one & Linden which we produce in Mn. ND Sweet Clover is about my favorite, which may be close in color &flavor to Acacia? However I’m still regretting not getting a jar of Acacia honey from Trader Joe’s ( my wife chastises me for adding yet another(sample) of honey to her kitchen counter)?
Hi Chris: Congrats on being a beekeeper for 35 years!!
My husband, too, gets after me for always adding another kind of honey to our kitchen pantry (LOL) 🙂
“Bee” Happy,
Bev
This is nice tasting honey. My favorite though is the dark almost black buckwheat honey.
It is great to see a website where so many people love honey.
The Qur’an states:
“Your Lord revealed to the bees: “Build dwellings in the mountains and the trees, and also in the structures which men erect. Then eat from every kind of fruit and travel the paths of your Lord, which have been made easy for you to follow.” From inside them comes a drink of varying colours, containing healing for mankind. There is certainly a Sign in that for people who reflect.” (Qur’an, 16:69)
I invite you all to Islam.
I LOVE ACACIA honey! Seems a lot of us do too. Our supermarket sells German Acacia honey and it’s lovely stuff. Langnese Acacia honey is the best of the Acacias, sadly it’s also the most expensive, so expensive that it’s not left on the shelves just empty bottles and you get the real thing from the cashier.
I’ve tasted so many honeys and always always fall back to Acacia. It basically has the cleanest honey flavour, some have hints of citrus or almond, it just depends on where it’s produced where the bees foraged. However it’s never heavy or dark.
For me the strangest oddest honey is the heritage honeys from New Zealand. They range in taste from tar to burnt toast.
True Acacia honey from Africa is also absolutely delicious. It has the same lightness as the North American one and the European false Acasia but is almost liquid gold Amber in colour, bright with a clarity that is exceptional. It’s not often found for sale but wild collected from rather feisty African wild bees who actually nest in hollows in true Acacia trees. You often find Acacia trees with burnt holes in the trunk where this honey has been collected, bees then move back in and the honey sometimes seeps out the burnt wood making the most intoxicatingly delicious smell that lingers for years.
Yes Acacia honey rocks, I eat it straight from the jar.
Where can I buy Organic Raw Unpasteurized Acacia Honey ? I am in Oregon – Thanks your assist !
Dear Susan: A good resource is the honey locator on the honey.com website. It will show where and what kinds of honey is sold throughout the US. Just put your state in and you should be able to navigate from there. Hope this helps!
May i know how much the price for acacia honey? for 1kg? anybody knows?
Dear Sahrizal: The price of acacia honey depends on where you buy it. Try locating it in your country, if possible. If that is not possible, try locating it online. Hope this helps.
It’s the champagne of honey…in my opinion
Love that Karen. I agree!!
Hello my name is Constantin and im from Romania, My family has been raising beens for decades, im glad you all like Acacia Honey alow me to explain what Acacia realy is and does! they are a big company of precessors of Honey, what they do is they buy all the honey from us for a very small price!!! t, they mixed it up and than sell it for as retails in difrent quntatys from grams to KG!
Now imagine this if you think the Acacia Honey is so sweet, imagine tasting the raw natural product ,from one producer, Not thousands of mixed flavours…. and you may imagine how good Romabnia honey is!!!
problem is not all is 100%Organic despide everything, some beekepers feed there bees with sugar and water over the winter, because they sold all teh Honey to ACACIA in the fall :), the secret to a organic honey is to feed the bees only with honey over the winter!!!
Most of us are looking to find importars and sell directly to them… The price of Honey in Romania 100% Organic directly from the be hives is 5-6 euro a Kg depending on the type of honey!!!! For more information / orders /Busniess ideeas/ alexandra31joana@yahoo.ro !!! my family produces over 4.000-5000 Kg a seasson all Natural And With UE certificate and Organic tested 1000% sorry for my raw english!
Hi Constantin: Glad to meet a fellow honey lover. What an excellent thing you are doing – taking care of bees so they make more honey!! I agree with what you say about the organic honey – bees must be fed honey and not sugar over the winter. Keep up the great work!
Bev
I just found acacia honey at our local bulgarian store. I picked up one from Serbia so now I’m interested in the other kinds i saw. I prefer German linden honey and i also picked one of those and German forest honey because that is the best for knocking out a cold. Very excited to try the acacia now. They also had German acacia and i believe one from romania. I want to try them all!
Hi Maureen: Thanks for the website. I’m happy that you’re excited to try the different kinds of honey. There are many varietals and they are all unique. Enjoy your honey 🙂
Bev
The best acacia honey is coming from Serbia
I think so Seder honey is the best because of it,s a grate smel & test
A few years back I was in Lucca, Italy to take cooking lessons. I bought several jars of Acacia honey and I am down to one jar. I have looked everywhere here in States and cannot find it.. If anyone out there knows where I can find it please let me know, I will continue looking on line. It is the best honey I have ever tasted. I want more and also to give to my friends..
Thanks for all the information, I know more about honey now than I did 30 minutes ago..
Jeri
We have a local bulgarian market who sells European imports. You can go to malincho.com and see if they can ship some to you. They have a few different kinds at our local store today. ☺
Having tried many variety’s of honey I came across acacia honey and reading about it I changed froml manuka honey to acacia honey and me being a type 2 diabetic found can take it and my wife haviving respiratory problems and a gastro problems thought it would be good to try it as we have not been taking for a long time will let you how we are progressing after a month and will update this regards David
Hi David: Please do let us know of your results with honey after a month. I appreciate your stopping by 🙂
I’ve been fighting a really nasty respiratory virus, on top of asthma 🙁
I found a German manufactured version of Acacia Honey at BigLots for $4, I’ve also been mixing it with Horehound and Golden-seal to ease my heavy coughing. My cough is getting better by the day and my body isn’t struggling as much to fight off the infection. I love the taste, quality, and benefits of this honey <3
Dear Sha: I’m so glad the acacia honey is helping your illness!! It is amazing isn’t it? Please see my post – How to cure a sore throat. I think you will really benefit from this amazing tea. I do hope you are continuing to feel better each day and I thank you for dropping by and taking the time to comment 🙂
“Bee” Healthy,
Hugs, Bev
Whoa, got a jar for Xmas and love it!
Hi Slary: What a neat present to receive – a jar of honey. Enjoy it!!
I love this honey. The first time I had it was at a friend’s. He added some to a fruit salad and it was delicious. It is very sweet, but not as sweet as orange blossom honey. I like it drizzled over ricotta cheese.
Hi Joe: Thanks for sharing your experience with acacia honey. Everyone loves this stuff and the applications are endless. It is one of my favorites:-)
Bev
It’s not the healthiest (multifloral honey is) but it’s good for cooking and it is the slowest to crystalize.
If you live in Europe you can buy acacia honey from www. numacalca .ro
Acacia honey is tied for my favorite with sunflower!! I hated honey my whole life until I tried Acacia. Now that I’ve moved back to the U.S. I’m searching for it!
Hi Karyn: That’s interesting about your hating honey until you tried a kind you really liked. My sister used to hate honey – now she uses it each day in her cup of tea. She really loves creamed honey 🙂
I have tried the acacia honey but tried the lagnese the packed bottle one and im so much in love with that honey:) for me its the best one comparably to other I have tasted..I wish though I could try your original one 🙂
i have 100% raw, non pasteurized Acacia with the Acacia flower’s tiny pollen grains visible also inside the bottle of honey available, with testing done for its purity by refractometric analysis.
This is the ONLY honey that doesn’t give me heartburn. I’ve been unable to find it in any store in the past year. Decided to try to get it on line.
Hi Janet: Yes, it can be difficult to find Acacia honey in stores. You’ll do better online as you suggest. Enjoy it 🙂
Bev
I am from Tennessee and my grandfather always made honey. I am now an expat in the Middle East which has tons of honey. I bought Acacia in hopes I could get a flavor like home and it tastes just like his.
Dear Noor: I am so glad you found honey that tastes like your grandfather used to produce. A little taste of home makes for a good spirit. Enjoy!!
“Bee” Happy,
Bev
I have hated honey all my life. I’ve just been to Tesco for a few bits’n’pieces, including some whisky ‘cos I’ve got a cold starting (I think) – it’s not hayfever. Wandering past the honey, I figured nothing ventured….. Anyway, after a good five minutes looking at the vast number of different varieties available (whatever happened to runny, solid or with honeycomb only?), I thought I’d give the Acacia honey a try (it was on offer). It is absolutely scrummy! One hot toddy with honey, whisky (of course) and lemon & ginger tea consumed and another one on the way.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…… Acacia honey!!!!!!!!!
Dear Di: I agree – Acacia honey is indeed “scrummy” 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
Bev
I have just been given a kilo of BG Acacia honey.my neighbour over the wall made me a gift as I store his rotovator when he is away. Checking the web,it seems good for Diabetes 11,and that makes me happy to try it.It is quite thin, but beautiful to taste a little, with almonds as a snack.go well people.)))
Hungarian acacia honey is the best. I found it has the highest quality. The fragrance, clarity, consistency and flavor are superb. It is hard to find though. International markets that carry Indo-European products have it sometimes but the Bulgarian is easier to find than the Hungarian. I prefer the Hungarian because the Bulgarian is thinner, runnier, and less fragrant.
Hi Xuxa: Thanks for explaining a bit about Hungarian acacia vs Bulgarian acacia honey. Many people have a favorite acacia based on their personal criteria. In any event, acacia honey is awesome 🙂
Bev
I just had organic Romanian acacia honey on my pancakes. I came across your blog when I googled for this ‘new’ honey to me. I was skeptical when I saw this pale coloured honey on the supermarket shelf but now I’m glad I bought it. I’d been drinking coffee without sugar because I don’t want to take too much sugar, but will definately try with this honey. Also will replace the sugar I used for the pancake batter with this honey too.
Thanks for the infos about this honey!
Hiya Tina: Glad you found acacia honey. I wouldn’t be without it because I love it so much and use it for so many things! I’m sure you’ll feel that way after you’ve had a chance to experiment with it. Honey is awesome 🙂
Thanks for your feedback.
Bev
Ahhhh Acacia. I have been using it for about 2 years now and it is without doubt the best for sweetening coffee. Doesn’t alter the flavour in any way. It is also great to know that it has medicinal benefits. Looking forward to trying it on greek yogurt!
Hello Shay: It is excellent on yogurt – yum, yum 🙂 I really love acacia honey and glad you do too!
“Bee” happy,
bev
I have to say that acacia is one of the best tasting honey… I just had some romanian acacia honey…. delicious.
Hello Sim: I totally agree with you – it is one of my absolute favorite! 🙂
Bev
First time using, just got it used in my tea. I think I will get it again. It’s very smooth and rich looking. Carolyn
Thanks! For the information first time buying this honey very expensive but I will enjoy it. Tell you more about as I experience it. Lot’ s of sweetness.
You got a nice jar of acacia honey? You fortunate thing 🙂 Enjoy every drop of it.
I absolutely agree with you 100%, it is the best:-)
It certainly is, in my opinion, Petja!!
I have been consuming Acacia honey for the past 35 years of my life. I definitely know that it is the best honey flavor in the world. I have tried many other flavors before and I can definitely say that no other flavor comes even close to it. I use it on a daily basis, although sometimes i take a break from it for a month or so but get right back to it. My favorite sweets is greek yogurt with pecans topped with acacia honey!! It does not make you gain weight nor cause you diabetes. It gives you lots of energy especially in the morning and it can be consumed any time of the day. My understanding is that Acacia is a flower that usually grows only on top of mountains therefore the only places it is found here in the states is Colorado and vicinity. It is mostly known In Europe and Africa but not so much in the states or Asia.
Adrian:
Thanks for sharing your experience with acacia honey. It is definitely on the top of my list as one of the very best honeys! A bowl of nuts, yogurt, fruit and honey is one of my favorite all time treats, yummy 🙂
Thanks for stopping by.
Bev
I have tried clover, blackberry and wheat honey. The Acacia has to be the best flavor, no bitter after taste. It has a per oxidative affect and great for wound healing, gums, teeth. Over night sensation. I recommend acacia honey.
I recommend acacia honey too, Reta – great stuff 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
“Bee” Happy,

IS ACASIA NOT THE THORNY TREES WITH HARDLY MUCH FOLIGE . I HAVE SEEN ACASIA TREES IN THE NORTHERN INDIA IN PLENTY . IS IT THE SAME . SO IF THERE ARE LOT OF TREES AROUND IS IT NOT LIKELY THAT THE BEE HIVES , NATURAL OR MAN MADE WILL PROVIDE ACASIA HONEY ?
Hello Zaheerhusain:
This type of honey is sold in Europe as Acacia honey, but in the United States it is sold as American Acacia or Locust honey. This type of honey comes from the “False Acacia” or Black Locust tree (Robinia pseudoacacia) and seldom from Acacia species at all. Also, many confuse it with the Honey Locust (Gleditsia triacanthos), which does not produce honey.
So perhaps the acacia trees you see in India, although acacia trees, are not the type that is used by bees in making honey.
Greetings,
Just found Acacia honey at Home Goods store in Baltimore, Md. While, I enjoy honey and use it often, I had never seen this one before. I purchased it and am enjoying it as we speak. For right now, I am just using it in hot teas and just on a spoon. I was truly glad to hear of its powers. This was the only jar that I saw, otherwise, I would have purchased more. But, in the future will be on the lookout.
Ms Chappelle
Dear Ms. Chappelle: So glad you found acacia honey and really like it. I do too – it is one of my favorites 🙂
Bev
I tried it from marks and Spencer and i thought that the best honey i have ever tasted. I had no idea that it was any thing special till i tried it. THE TASTE WOW i. That why i looked it up on the web to see what and where it came from. I started eating honey when i was in Macedonia. Some times honey has a tang that i am not keen on . But this honey is from another world, This is the champaign of honeys . The best i have ever tasted
Dear T iveson: Thanks for sharing and finding a honey that you truly love 🙂
Bev
raw honey organic.the best i have ever bought it is solid like hard butter.
Russell: That’s the kind I am currently using for my honey/vinegar/tea tonics. It is “creamed” raw honey, and yes, it looks like butter. It’s very good!!
Thanks for stopping by.
Bev
I’ve tasted the Tazmanian Leatherwood honey and honestly I cant tell the different with the Acasian. I thought they are the same, arent they? Anyway, I love both! Mild flavour and has no after taste. Plus, Bauian honey from Indonesia has a very unique taste and texture. It kinda gassy, far from pesticides definitely, and I think it worth a try.
My cousin just sent me a couple jars of acacia honey with sprigs of mountain pine in them from Italy. Haven’t tasted it yet. Raw Mesquite Honey is my fav at the moment.
Ethan: That sounds just heavenly. I love the flavored honeys, especially honey infused with hot chilis. You get that sweet – hot vibe and it is a delicious contrasts of flavors. Thanks for stopping by!
Bev
ACACIA HONEY SOURCED FROM ROBEINIA PSEUDO ACACIA , IS REALLY BEST IN TASTE AND IN BENIFITS I HAVE TASTED ACACIA HONEY OF ASHMIR INDIA . IT WAS REALLY ING OF HONEY,,,,
I am a huge honey addict and acacia honey is one of my fav. I like to mix it with cinammon and obtain a sort of pungent, brown paste. You cannnot eat too much of it, but I just love it. It also has medicinal properties.
Acacia honey is one of the best types of honey for many reasons, and it is one of my personal favs too!
Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Bev
Very nice honey hope product is pure
Dose it help you sleep ?
Hi Susan: Typically, honey does help with sleep. But in order to find out in your particular situation, you’d have to give it a try. Everyone is different. Hope you enjoy it:-)
Brooklyn ny produces the best honey
The honey is not subject to pesticides and the urban vegetation makes it very unique
I’ve tried honey from all over the world and Brooklyn honey was a rare treat
Hi Sam: I love Brooklyn, and I used to live there! I haven’t had the chance to taste the honey though. I must make sure to have a tasting when I visit there in April. Thanks for stopping by.
Bev
You can never say your honey is a particular kind of honey or is free of pesticides until you look at the honey under a microscope. I am a bee keeper and I have no idea where my bees go since they will travel three to five miles to forge.
Absolutely right.
It is the best I have ever tasted. Love it in plain yogurt with fresh blueberries and ground flax.
Hi Karen:
I love it on yogurt, too. Especially that nice and creamy greek yogurt. Yum!

Acacia Honey is my all time favourite treat! If I know anyone who is travelling to Hungary, I always ask them to bring it back for me.
I have read in some sources that this honey does not actually come from the Acacia tree, but instead from the Black Locust. Is this true? Is this the same for North American as well as European Acacia Honey?
Kathy:
I agree with you – love, love, love Acacia honey!
As you mentioned, there is much confusion over where this honey comes from. The black locust tree is sometimes referred to as “pseudo Acacia”. or”false Acacia”. Even though this tree is native to the United States, you can find it in Europe, too. Most honey labeled Acacia honey is from this tree, even though it isn’t technically an Acacia.
Love your blog, by the way. Those pictures of those baked goods make my mouth water (LOL).
Thanks for stopping by.

yes, acacia honey is truly the best in the world. Have eaten Hungarian acacia honey and loved it.
Yes Sharon the Hungarian acacia honey is the best! I know…..I am Hungarian and I love the acacia honey too!
Did you ever try to suck it out of the flower? You can eat the whole flower. Some in my country they fry the flowers and they eat it. (I never fried it though, but I ate the flower raw. Yummy….
Hello Maria: Thanks for sharing your experience with acacia honey. I have never sucked honey from the flower, but I would absolutely love to try it! The fried flowers are excellent, too, I’m sure 🙂

Wow,I use to eat the flowers too…I am Romanian..
Hi Betty: That’s interesting that you used to eat the flowers. What did they taste like? I have a friend from Romania and she gives me honey for that region. I really enjoy it. Thanks!!
I absolutely love this honey! I use it in my coffee and I describe it as having a vanilla flavor. Not overwhelming. Just a wonderful flavor. I first found this honey in a really cool place in Georgia called Merciers. I bought it while we were on vacation there. Now when we go back I always look for it. I have found places to order it on the Internet as well. It is a bit costly but so worth it if you are a fan of honey.. I just love it!
I really love Acacia, too, Kim. The flavor is really awesome and I use this type of honey probably a lot more than most others because of its versatility.
Thanks for sharing!!
