There are few things as enviable as a dewy, glowing skin complexion.
But is it only for those with good genes, good doctors or good wallets? Is there a secret to how to make skin glow?
Well, the good news is that even if you’ve had skin problems in the past and don’t have tons of money to spend on “lotions and potions”, glowing skin is still possible for you. How so?
Well, first of all, let’s see what causes the skin to look healthy and glowing in the first place, and then we can outline a plan so you can achieve great results.
YOUR SKIN IS A WINDOW. . . .
to your health, or what’s going inside of you -both emotionally and physically. When you’re stressed out, you may get skin breakouts, if you eat or drink the wrong things constantly, your skin may become dull or you may have blemishes. And what happens if you don’t get enough rest – bags or black circles under the eyes. Certain habits (like smoking) can destroy our skin’s ability to look healthy and youthful. Even certain medications can take its toll on our skin.
So in order to achieve great looking skin, you must think about what you are doing for your health. If you have bad habits, work hard on getting rid of them. If you are stressed out or have emotional things going on, find the reason(s) why, and try to resolve it. Your skin will thank you. Ever wonder why most people look fantastic when returning from vacation? People ask the vacationer if he or she changed their skincare or makeup or had something done, right? It’s because people tend to relax, have a great time, and do the things they love on vacation – therefore they are more relaxed and happy – and it is reflected in their skin!
A SMILE IS WORTH…..
Actually, you can’t put a price tag on inner contentment. Have you noticed that when a person is in love they have that “glow”? It’s a known fact that if you have inner happiness, your skin will respond. A smile as a result of happiness can really light up your face. It’s a simple fact that people who smile a lot are perceived as more attractive as those who don’t. Plus, when you smile it does positive things to your body and overall health.
DRINK YOUR WAY TO HEALTHY SKIN
I know you’ve heard it said over and over again, but it is worth mentioning again – in order to have glowing skin, you must drink a good amount of water every day. There’s nothing secret about this – water helps your skin to stay hydrated and it aids your body in getting rid of toxins. When toxins are removed, your skin will reward you by becoming more healthy in the way of dewy, glowing skin. So what can you do if you hate drinking water or haven’t been in the habit?
- If you hate drinking water, then make it a pleasurable experience. Try adding a citrus juice like lemons or orange juice or any juice you like (just a splash) along with a little honey.
- Keep water with you. If you work at the computer, have a large glass on your desk, if you are away from home, be sure to bring your (non-plastic) water bottle with you.
- Set your watch or set a periodic computer reminder for each hour, so that you don’t forget to drink water.
- Don’t overdose on water – that wouldn’t be good, but a good way to make sure you are getting adequate water is to drink when you first get up, a glass between each meal and with each meal.
EXERCISE YOUR WAY TO GLOWING HEALTHY SKIN
This tip is very important. In order to have glowing skin, you must get moving. Exercise is one of the single most important things you can do for your skin and overall health as well. There’s no getting around it – you must exercise in order to have healthy skin.
When you exercise, it causes you to sweat and sweating removes toxins from your skin – toxins that can clog your pores and produce blemishes, black heads and pimples.
Exercise also causes more oxygen and blood flow to the skin. This allows more nutrients to get to the skin and that will help your skin to glow. Also, this will enhance the skin care products on the surface of the skin.
WHAT DO YOU FEED YOUR SKIN?
If you use crappy products on your skin, have poor cleansing and maintenance routines, or abuse your skin, then your skin will fight back. How? In the form of breakouts, rashes, dullness, and generally unattractive skin. So you need to:
- Make sure you take makeup off every night and cleanse and moisture your face so it can breathe without distraction as you sleep and rejuvenate.
- Don’t pick at your face, use greasy hair products that lay on the face all day, and don’t take up bad habits (smoking, over indulgence in alcohol).
Let’s stop here for a minute and let me ask you – what products are you using on your skin? If you are using products that contain loads of chemicals, those chemicals will be absorbed into your body, just as if you’ve eaten them. And that can cause harm. Many of those ingredients on your skincare labels (you know, the ones you can’t possibly enunciate) wreck havoc on your skin. So, read labels and try to go for simple, pure ingredients. Or better yet, make your own. It is cheaper and healthier for you.
Below are a few excellent recipes for your skin that will give you a glow right away while you wait for your body to respond to the above suggestions. These simple ingredients have been used for centuries by beautiful women over the ages.
REFRESHING CUCUMBER & YOGURT MASK
Puree 1/3 of a cucumber and 1 tablespoon of yogurt in a blender. Apply it on a clean face. Leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. Follow up with a moisturizer.
HONEY & YOGURT MASK
Mix together 1 tablespoon of honey (raw or manuka for best results) and 1 teaspoon of plain yogurt. If your skin is oily, add a few drops of lemon juice. Leave it on for 10 – 15 minutes and then wash off with warm, then cold water. Follow up with a moisturizer.
HONEY & SALT SCRUB
Mix together 1 tablespoon of honey (raw or manuka for best results), 1 teaspoon of sea salt and few drops of coconut or olive oil. Gently massage on your skin and leave on for 10 minutes and then wash off with warm, then cold water. You will be amazed how great your skin looks and feels. Follow up with a moisturizer.
TURMERIC HONEY GLOWER
Mix together 2 tablespoons Gram flour (also called chickpea flour or besan). If unavailable then use oatmeal flour, and 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric (found here). Slowly add some milk and honey until you have a paste that is not runny. Apply to clean face and neck and leave on for 10 – 15 minutes. Wash off with warm then cold water. Your skin should have a clear, nice glow. Follow up with moisturizer.
IF I ONLY HAD ONE INGREDIENT TO USE ON MY FACE, IT WOULD DEFINITELY BE HONEY.
Honey is amazing. It has so many qualities that are excellent for glowing skin. It is antibacterial, antifungal, draws moisture to your skin, is a natural antioxidant and it promotes wound healing. Wow!! It does so many wonderful things.
If you took a jar of honey, what do you see? Doesn’t it look like sunshine? Isn’t it just glowing? No wonder that with regular use, honey can have your skin glowing, too. Many people use honey, especially manuka honey, to wash their face. They even add honey to their other skincare products to up the benefits to their skin.
HOW TO GET GLOWING SKIN – LITTLE SECRETS
- Before you leave your home and right after you do your makeup, take a couple of ice cubes and put them in a cloth. Place them on your cheeks for a couple of minutes and voila – your skin will appear dewy and refreshed.
- Take very weak green tea, add a couple of drops of lemon juice and put it in a small spritzer bottle. Refrigerate and mist lightly on your face or over your makeup. It will add a dewiness to your appearance, and it is very refreshing.
- Do what the stars do – treat yourself to regular spa treatments. Here is where you’ll get a skin analysis and wonderful pampering. Can’t afford it? Then treat yourself occasionally because it will really do wonders for your skin and lift your mood. You can dump the body massages and other treatments and opt for just the facial. It is very reasonable and so much fun to be pampered for a day.
- If you use makeup, opt for illuminating tints, bronzers, and creams. The illuminators contained in these products will instantly give you a dewy, glowy complexion.
So, do you know how to make skin glow? By incorporating some of the above suggestions, you will be well on your way to skin that is not only healthy but is beautiful as well.

hii,,I’m having a dry skin can I mixed honey, rose water and honey
Hello, I recently mixed honey, tumeric, milk, oatmeal and lemon juice. To my black soap. But discover that my body becomes sticky and I get sweaty easily. What could be the cause?
Hi Lara: If you’re using this mixture as a soap, it is way too heavy and it will just sit on your skin. I’d suggest you use the black soap to cleanse the skin and use the other ingredients as a face mask, left on the skin for about 15 minutes and then rinse off. Hope this helps!
Can I mix honey in my body cream
Hi Toyosi: You certainly can. It will enhance the body cream. Enjoy!
my skin is oily please suggestion me Which cream i use?
Hi Ritu Shrama: You can use any of these recipes because they can be used for all skin types. Hope you love them!
Hugs,
Bev
how to remove whiteheads from face
Hi: A paste of baking soda and honey applied to clean skin is a very good remedy for whiteheads. Let me know if it works for you.
Hi..sir..
Iam 16 years old.iam using honey+tomato & honey+ rose water .how many days after this will result? And i heard that using sugar+lemon+honey for glow this is right? How will glow face? And some times i will wash (tomato+honey ) after somany times this will make any harm to face?
Hi Rose: Honey and rose water are great things to use on the face. Tomato is very acidic and acts as an exfoliator for the skin, which will brighten and smooth the skin. I would be careful with using the tomato too much as it is, like I said, very acidic. Once a week should be good. Thanks!!
Hi.. Iam anjana… I have a lott of pimples on my face every now and Then… Would honey or cucumber be helpful in doing soo… Or should i got for another… As mu pimples face away They make a black mark/scar on my face… Could u plz suggest some remedies that would work up in Just about a month
Hi Anjana: Honey will help with the pimples and skin disruption. The marks on your face should began to fade as time goes on. But to help, a mixture of baking soda and honey applied to your wet, clean face has help many. If you want to try this, I think you will like it. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
As I’ve mentioned before, I like to glow. However, I do not like to be shiny. I also find that my somewhat-dry skin, gets a ‘lil greasier during the summer, which is to be expected. Right now, the ONLY THING I will use in the summer is the Lady Soma Renewal Serum – It’s keeping my skin conditioned, fresh, and not too shiny, no matter the heat!!!
tq fr yo suggestions its really working I have used honey wid baking soda n its going good
Wow Aliya – that’s great. I really love the honey and baking soda exfoliant. It leaves you skin soft and smooth 🙂
Hugs,
Bev
Nice Tips.. By consuming Honey can we get all these benefits like glowing skin., etc., If yes can we have a table spoon honey daily?..
Honey helps internally and externally for better skin. Since everyone is different, try using maybe a teaspoon with your tea and see how your body reacts. Of course you can use it on your face externally. You can use it as a face wash, a face exfoliator (along with a little baking soda), and a moisturizing treatment. I’m sure you’ll like it! 🙂
Dear Bev, I have used so many cream on my body for glowing skin, but it’s not working at all or it can work for three weeks, pls I need a good cream for my body. A cream that will make me fair and also give me a glowing skin, thanks.
Dear Chuka: Most commercial creams don’t live up to their promise. Most are loaded with harmful ingredients too. Why not make your own. The article has many suggestions you can try, and I hope you like them.
use fair and lovely
My daughter is 2yrs and starting to lose colour. What can I do.
Hi Helen: Why is she starting to lose color?
my face is darker than my body I wanna Bcom 2 shades fair I was fair when I was of 8 years but now I donno how I became 2 shades darker
Hi Tannu: Many things can cause a face to become darker than your body. Our face and arms are more exposed to the elements (sun) than our bodies. There are many remedies to help lighten skin. Honey mixed with baking soda and applied on a wet clean face will not only help to lighten it, but it will exfoliate and make it smooth. Yogurt, honey and lemon juice mixed together and applied to the face also helps. Also I’ve read that white rice water applied to the skin for about 20 minutes and then rinsed off also helps to lighten the skin. Hope you find one that works. 🙂

My Question: Please can i use Honey+FreshTomatojuice freely without side effet for clearing my sensitive skin to be glowing and brighter naturaly on my daily usage and will the syrup be tick as in teture as syrub? My phone number is 08067109223
Hi Lovely: Honey is very good for sensitive skin; in fact you can use it in place of soap for healthier skin. Tomato juice has many vitamins and minerals and a good exfoliator due to the acidic nature of the fruit (or vegetable). So I would try the tomato juice with honey to see how your skin reacts. I would not use tomato juice every day (unlike honey); but if you skin likes it, maybe once a week should help.
Thanks for your question.
I have a very dry skin that many white patches are coming out on my face. And the problem is no cosmetic creams suit me. Plz do suggest the best remedy for this problem.
Thank you.
Dear Binita: Try the suggestions in my article and see if it helps you. You can even wash your face with honey instead of soap to eliminate dry skin. Hope this helps. Thanks!!
I have been using the honey method for over a year…with startling results. ALthough I am of a great age (late 50’s) was still prone to breakouts….have not had anything significant for months and the little ones that appear go within a day. At night I use a honey and yoghurt (full fat greek plain) and 1/2 tsp of turmeric….leave on for 5-30 minutes….depending and wash off thoroughly under shower…..skin looks almost luminous. Use Rosewater and put a drop of Vit C powder in it for added benefit.
Wow Aunt Gertie. That’s wonderful. You’re right – honey can sometimes give ‘startling” results. The Vit C powder is also excellent for the skin both internally and externally. Thanks so much for your review and feedback.
Can i use lime instead of lemon?? for honey and lemon mix drinks
Yes, you can.
hi i want to know my skin looks dull i had a very fair complexion but now it becomes dull can you please tell me how i enhance my facial complexion my hands feets and the rest of the boody is so fair but face is dull
Hi Nimra: A wonderful recipe is to take a cotton pad and put a few drops of apple cider vinegar and then a few drops of olive oil. Wipe your cleansed face with this cotton pad and follow up with your favorite moisturizer. Your skin’s dullness should be gone within a week. I use it all the time 🙂 Hope this helps.
Thanks for your tips. Everyone wants to have glowing skin and for that many of us make lots of efforts. Thanks for honey which helps me a lot. I always use honey products for my skin as it is natural as well as brighten up my skin without any side effects.
Thanks Lisa for telling your experience with honey. It is a miracle in a jar, especially for the skin. Thanks for dropping by :-0)
hey my skin is oily and i have a little acne problem so i just appply honey on my face and rub it with half peice of lemon and then let it stay for about 15-20 mins. is it right what i’m doing? and how many time i can do this in a week?
Hello Ayaan: You can use just manuka honey as a facial cleanser. It is very effective. If you have very sensitive skin, sometimes lemon juice will cause breakouts, so stick with the honey for acne problems. Manuka honey is best. Hope this helps.
in fact, can’t really know how to thanks for source things you let me know today, just God blesssssssssssss!
Awwww…thanks so much for your kind words 🙂

Green tea is awesome! I drink green tea to detoxify and lose weight.
Will daily use of honey and rosewater together on face lighten the skin tone? Kindly reply to this 🙂
Hi Garvita: The best products I’ve learned are good for lightening the face are rosehip oil, neem oil, yogurt and licorice root extract. Honey and rosewater are two excellent ingredients that help with moisturization and toning the skin.
I will love to have a glow skin. I am black person with a fair skin but I am becoming black and will love to use nature product on my skin to gain my nature color back
What should I do
Hi Princess Adua: There are many natural products to help with lightening the skin. Yogurt, licorice root extract, rosehip oil, tomatoes, hydrogen peroxide, just to name a few. Research which one is better for your skin type and give it a try. Thanks!
Thank you all so much for taking the time to share this informative info!I love argan oil, I use the one from Sheerargan which is really good for skin.
Hello…i applied honey on my face and after a day i got rushes all over my face..wat myt be tha problem did my skin react to the honey?? Do i still continue using tha honey ?
Hi Magdalene: I certainly would not continue to use the honey if you are having a reaction to it. I wonder if your honey was pure. I have never heard of such an experience, but everyone is different and you could have allergies to the nectar the bees used to make your honey. Hope you are feeling better soon.
i have oily skin . can i use honey , lemon juice and cucumber juice mixture on my face once a day for brighter skin and also for skin tightening.
Dear James: Your combination of honey, lemon juice and cucumber juice will help with brighter, tighter skin. But be careful with the lemon juice as it can be very acidic on the skin. Be sure to dilute it before applying.
DermalMD Glowing Serum is the best skin care item I have purchased in a long time and I’ve been trying many of them. Helps improve texture of skin, clears up everything from wrinkles to dark spots.
I have pimples n blackhds….n scars too….n also i want a brighten skin….so shld i apply honey+milk+turmeric+lemon juice for overnight???? It will b helpful or not???
Hi Rashmi: I never used it overnight. It may be better to use it during the day and wash it off. It will probably be very uncomfortable and will make a mess in the bed (LOL). Hope you enjoy this fabulous treat for your skin.
Hello Bev, honey and milk works for the face right? What can I use on my body too because I have scars and I really want my body glowing. I also have dark knuckles.
Dear Helen:
For your body, a scrub of baking soda and oil (coconut or almond) – equal parts – helps the body to glow. Just scrub your body in the shower after you bathe, then rinse off. You can even add a drop or two of essential oil (lavender for night or peppermint or lemon for mornings to wake you up). Just be careful to rinse the shower after so you don’t slip from the oil. I love this scrub and use it often. You can even use it on your face for exfoliation and glow. Thanks!
plz help me in removing black spots around my neck! 🙁
what should i do for it
Sharanya: Honey has been shown to help with black spots, or moles. Apply manuka honey to those areas and put a bandage on it and leave overnight. After a week of doing this, it should help with the moles. If your black spots aren’t moles, describe them and I can see if I can help.
plz help me in removing black spots around my neck what should i do for it
Hi Yamuna: What is causing the black spots? How long have you had them?
I put raw on my face EVERY NIGHT. I’ve been doing this for two months & my skin is amazing! I started breaking out & I couldnt figure out what it was from so I started using honey on my face as a mask. I leave it on for about 1 1/2. If I use it in the morning only about 15 mim. I’m not breaking out anymore & my skin is literally glowing. I use Wholesome Sweetners Organic Raw honey because its gritty & its like an exfoiliate.
Dear Ashanti: Wow – I’m really happy that honey has helped your skin. Isn’t it wonderful?! Honey is very good for acne and other skin problems because it is antibacterial. Spread the word about honey 🙂
pls bev .can i use jst honey on my face and wash it after 10minutes ? tho my face is smooth .but i wnt it to look fresher dan it is .i have not used anything before .pls help
Hi Tyna: Yes you can use just honey on your face. I use it this way and I love it. Just be sure to apply to a clean wet face and after about 10 minutes, wash really well with warm water. Thanks!
Hello,
I’ve heard that honey is a natural skin lightner. While I think that’s fine and all I don’t actually want to lighten my skin, but I do love the benefits of using honey on your face. Do you know how many times a week or day I should use honey to get these benefits without actually lightening my face?
Hi Merci: I’ve used honey for years and it hasn’t really lightened my skin. What it has done is clarified and brightened my skin. It is more even toned and has a nice glow. My skin color is a brown tone. You may have a different experience in that it might lighten your skin with continued use, but it shouldn’t be a huge difference from your original skin color. Hope this helps 🙂
i clean my face with rose water in the morning and wash with chilled water then after 1 hour i do excercise and after that after 15 min. I use cucumber and honey daily on my face after 10 min i go to take bath and wash my face with normal water then use lakme face wash on my face .i want to know this procrdure is right or not
Hi Roopa: Rose water, cucumber and honey are all excellent for the skin. You seems to have a good regimen for your face, but be careful not to wash it too much. Sometimes less is more. I’m sure your skin looks amazing 🙂
I love DermalMD Skin glow Serum, my skin looks and feels younger. My dark spots are almost gone, and I will have to me my next bottle soon.
Give it a try you will agree with me also.
Brilliant article!
I just discovered this site, and I just used your honey and salt scrub recipe and it’s amazing! My skin already feels cleaner and lighter after the first application, thanks so much!
Dear Nienna: So glad the honey salt scrub made your skin amazing. With regular use (but don’t overdo it), your skin will continue to be clearer and brighter. Thanks for sharing your experience with us!
I have black sport on my face and some part of my body, can i use honey and milk and leave it on over the night till d next moring?
Dear Joy: I have never left honey on my fact overnight, so I don’t know what it will do. It might be very uncomfortable to sleep with it. You might try it in the morning and leave it on for about 20 minutes, then rinse and follow up with a moisturizer. Instead of leaving it on overnight, just use it regularly during the day. Regularity is the key. Hope this helps 🙂
Bev
I have a very big problem with black heads… How do I get rid of them? 🙁
Hi Gloria: Blackheads can be helped by using baking soda. It helps to clean up pores very nicely. After you wash your face and it is still wet, take 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and add just a few drops of water and massage your face with it (be careful to avoid eyes) gently for about a minute. Rinse thoroughly with water and follow up with a a mixture of a few drops of apple cider vinegar mixed with a little water as a toner. Then moisturize. You will love the results. It will brighten and exfoliate your skin, too. Hope this helps!
Pls wot can I do to my face I’m dark but my face is light wot is d solution
Hi Debby: What is the cause of your light face? Once I know, I can steer you in the right direction. Thanks
hi…so i recently read about using lemon juice on my face to remove black spots….however, my face broke out after about four days of consistency and has persisted for two weeks now. i stopped the lemon but would really love to have a clear soft spot-free skin.
what would you target recomend? oh….i eat healthy
Dear Faith: Lemon juice by itself on the face can be very acidic and it can cause breakouts. If you want to remove dark spots, buy organic products that are made specifically for that problem. Eminence products are really good.
Hi. So I was actually browsing the web looking for natural remedies for extremely dry skin, which I have, and have always had. I’m pretty sure it’s not because of my diet, because I eat pretty healthily- i.e. I avoid processed food and eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. I also drink over 2 litres of water per day. I’m also very active. But my skin is so dry, the skin on the middle of my forehead and my nose is peeling/ flaking. It just feels so itchy, tight and very uncomfortable! I tried using shop-bought moisturizer for a while, but I hated it. My skin felt even tighter after using it, and itchier! So I gave that up. Next I tried using some oil on my face, olive oil (organic extra virgin.) I got the same reaction as when I used regular moisturizer: itchy and tight, and my skin did not improve. At first I thought maybe it was because of the oil, so looking at the other oils I had on hand, I thought of using coconut oil. However, I had heard that coconut oil was fairly comodegenic (idk if I’ve spelt it correctly), and as well as dry skin, I also have quite large, clogged pores. So I thought better of it.
And so then I came across using honey as a sort of cleanser/moisturizer, and I gave it a go. I used raw local honey: the best I could find. I have been using it for a while now. But this last week I’ve noticed that my skin has worsened. This morning, after using the honey, my skin was feeling very tight and itchy. It was, and still is, terrible. So I’m wondering what I can do about it, and I’m also questioning if honey is really that good for my skin. But I am in great need of help!
Dear Mared: So sorry to hear of your skin problems. I do agree that tight, irritated skin is very uncomfortable. Since your problem hasn’t resolved by using different kinds of skin products, both natural and otherwise, it might be a good idea to see a dermatologist. Perhaps there is something more happening with your skin. I wish you success and I hope you find a solution to your skin dryness.

Please help can i use manuka honey on my bad eyebags if so how do I apply it thanks for your help
Dear Collette: Manuka honey is very good for your face; in fact, I wash my face with manuka honey many times. As far as eye bags go, this is just your body telling you that you need to change something you are doing. Try to eliminate salty snacks and drink enough water throughout the day. If possible, drink green smoothies (veggies and fruit) each day. These contain vital hydration along with vitamins and minerals. Another thing that is good is to take the palm of your hands and place them on either side of your eyes and pull them gentle up and outward, but don’t stretch them. Then open and close your eyes about 20 times per day. This helps to get the fluid around your eyes moving.
Some people have allergies to skincare and other perfumes, etc. (and even some pets). Try to eliminate one thing at a time to see if this is the situation.
Hope this hleps you Collette and thanks so much for your questions!
hello dev,i’m using honey since few days i wanna know when my skin became fairer. In my my skin there are some pimples and black spots can fair and handsome creame is good for me.Can morning walk will affect our skin ?
Hi Rishab: A walk in the sun each morning is very good. You’ll get fresh air and vitamin D, which are very important. It will give your skin a glow. For fairer skin, and to eliminate spots, 3% hydrogen peroxide used as a toner on the face works wonders for many. Use it as a toner (avoiding eyes) after you wash your face. Every other day works best for most people. I don’t know the reason for your spots, but using honey along with the hydrogen peroxide is a good combo. Hope this helps.
hi,
i have a oily skin with acne problem, after the acne disappears it leave a scar every time so suggest something for scars problem.
Dear Neha: Acne scars can be very frustrating! There are a few remedies, but you must try a couple to see which ones work for you and your skin type. 1. After washing your face, once or twice a week mix half baking soda and half coconut oil and exfoliate your face. Work very gently. Follow up with a light moisturizer of pure aloe vera gel. You can use the aloe vera gel as often as you would like to minimize acne scarring 2. Wash face with honey instead of soap to prevent acne from occurring. Hope this helps and let me know if any work for you 🙂
Hi bev
Thank you so much for reply u r so sweet
As sweet as honey (LOL)!!
Hii bev
Thanks for reply I think little bit confusion I am asking for face pigmentation can i use
Honey +turmeric +little water +lemon juice
Hi Meenakshi: Sorry for the confusion – you were asking about using this on your face and not internally. Yes, turmeric and honey are very good to use for glowing skin and it does help with pigmentation. If you are going to use lemon juice, use just a little because lemon juice can be very irritating to some types of skin. Experiment to see if it irritates your skin. I think you will like this combination of ingredients to help with your skin. I appreciate all your questions!
Hi pls help i have blackspot on my chic i was used persevate ointment now my skin is black is looked like i,m burned .
Dear Pinky: I’m sorry that your skin looks like it is burned. I have never used persevate ointment, so I cannot comment on it or why it caused your skin to look black. Sorry I could not be of more help, but you may need to see a dermatologist.
Bev
Hi bev
How r u. Thank you so much for reply
I can use lemon juice in honey and turmeric and little water mixture
Plz tell me
Thanks
Hello Meenakshi: You can tumeric to your honey drinks; in fact, tumeric is an excellent ingredient with many health benefits. I love it and use it in many ways.
How can honey be use to make pink lips ..
Dear Bjoe: If I understand your question, changing the color of your lips may not be that easy as heredity plays a large part in how we are colored. I doubt that honey will change your lip color.
Bev
Thankyou for the information i feel like now surely i am going to have a healthy and shiny skin
Hi bev
Thank you so much for reply I will try ur tips definitely
Thanks
Glad I could be of some assistance Meenakshi 🙂
Bev
U can also use honey and milk instread of yoghurt just mix the two ingredients apply on ur face then rinse off with lukewarm Water
Hi Shelly: That’s right. Honey and milk together really give you a soft and nice complexion. Thanks!!
I’ve acne problem.I’m applying honey everyday.I guess It’ll will help.
Or should I use honey+Lemon?Reply fast!
Ty.
Hi Soha: If you are having problems with acne, applying just plain honey to your wet face each day as a substitute for soap will be beneficial. Try to use raw honey, or better yet, manuka honey. Lemon can be irritating to problem skin. Also Soha, I cannot emphasize the importance of fresh fruits and vegetables enough. Your skin tells us what is going on in our bodies. So include these in your diet, and it should help your skin as well. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Hi bev
How are you. And happy new year
Please gv me some tips for face pigmentation. I want neat and clean face from pigmentation Plz help me I am so worried I am waiting ur reply
Thanks
Hello Meenakshi: Face pigmentation is a very common problem. Many drugs can treat it, but many of those drugs are dangerous. That is why natural remedies are what people are seeking. The top remedies are tumeric mixed with honey and a little water and applied to your wet face every other day. Another remedy is castor oil. Apply it to your cleaned face at night. Castor oil is very thick, so it might be a good idea to dilute it with jojoba or almond oil first. This is an excellent oil combo for the skin. Also, mix in a little lavender essential oil (not too much as essential oils are very potent – you just need about one drop per teaspoon). Also, substitute honey for soap when washing your face. Just honey and nothing else. Manuka or raw honey is best. Be patient and take care of yourself. And happy new year to you, too 🙂 Thanks so much for reading my blog!!
Hugs,
Bev
My boyfriend has very dry skin and has been using eyerid serum on the dry areas. I have to say, we have both noticed an improvement! I am a bit leery of some of the ingredients. Although it feels and smells great going on the skin,Luckily, my man hasn’t experienced any irritation (and he has pretty sensitive skin), but others may.
Hi Kristine: Thanks for sharing. You mention that you are “leery of some of the ingredients”. If it contains lots of chemicals, I would be careful even though it may seem to work. You don’t want to be exchanging one problem for another. But I’m glad you are having success with it. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
hi mam…
can i use dabur honey daily twice to my face for getting fair complexion?please help me..
Hi Keerthi: Honey can be used in place of cleanser to wash the face. Just remove any makeup, wet your face and the apply about a teaspoon of raw honey on it and massage gently. Wash off with warm water and follow up with a moisturizer. You should see an improvement in your skin appearance. I don’t think it will lighten the skin, if that is what you mean by a “fair” complexion.
Hope this is helpful 🙂
Dear Dhwani: I really haven’t dealt with removal of tanned skin. I personally think dark, tanned skin is so beautiful. If you cannot remove the tan, try at least to get your skin in the best condition possible. You will look beautiful with or without the tanned skin.
hi mam, i want to knw exactly wht we can use best either honey or milk, honey or lemon, honey or rosewater. totally confused
Hi Richa: Look at the different recipes in this article and choose one to use. If you want to try a different one, try that one. Experiment to find the one you like best. Thanks!
Left over mixture of lemon and honey can put in refregerator and how many days you free to used
Dear Marivic: If you are using honey and lemon for skincare, you can probably put the mixture in the refrigerator covered for about a week. After that, I would make a new batch to keep it fresh. Thanks!
Hi bev..can I also use honey 4 pimples?..thanks
Hi Ayo: Yes, honey is very good for pimples as it is very antibacterial and antiseptic. You can make a paste of honey and baking soda and apply it to wet skin and massage gently for about 5 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Also many people have pimples because of dairy intake. I don’t know if that is your situation, or why your have pimples, but start working on your diet by including lots of fresh, raw fruits and vegetables and that should help you. Hope this helps!!
I have so many acnes on my forehead so pls pls give some tips to clear it nd can I use honey daily to clear it???pls give me solutions…….!!!!!!
Dear Anjali: Honey is very good for acne on the skin as it is antibacterial and antiseptic. Try washing your face with only honey to see if that helps. Use the honey instead of soap. Manuka honey is the best to use for this purpose. Also watch what you eat. Include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. Some people report improvements in their skin by eliminating dairy products. Hope this helps.
Hugs,
Bev
Hi bev! Loved your article….
But the only thing i wanted to ask u is…how to get rid of dark circles or eye bags?
I have tried many thing….
Dear Angel: There are many causes for this condition like allergies, Vitamin B12 or K deficiencies, poor circulation and even digestion problems.
It seems that those with darker complexions tend to have more problems with dark circles.
Without knowing your reason for eye bags and dark circles, I can only offer general information. Try including in your diet lots of raw fruits and vegetables and even vegetable juicing.
Vitamin K, used topically, is good for the under the eye area. You may want to apply some of this vitamin to your regular moisturizer and apply it to your eye area. Hopefully this will help your situation. Thanks so much for your question.

Whether Honey and rose water give me a fair and glowing skin?
Dear Sangeethakumar: Honey and rose water are two products that have been shown to really help skin’s appearance. But remember that these things work on the outside. Your skin reflects what’s on the inside. So this means that you should include plenty of fruits and vegetables and water in your daily diet. Fresh air, sunshine and exercise are also important. If you do these things, your skin will thank you!
Hugs,
Bev
I have very sensitive skin. Can u use honey on my face.will it leave irritation after use.. Pls do reply..
Hi Salma: Honey is very, very gentle on skin, so you should be okay using it because it should not irritate your skin (unless, of course, you are allergic to it).
Enjoy it!

Hii thz for the qpnderful ideas…. any tips for dark circles and pigmention for face. …
Hi Nitika: Dark circles and pigmentation can be caused by many things. For help on these, start with your diet. Make sure you are eating healthy fruits and vegetables and try to avoid some dairy products if that causes a breakout. It may sound simple, but make sure you are getting enough water. Many have found good results by washing their face with honey – See my article – Honey for the face”. Use apple cider vinegar mixed with water as an astringent to help lighten these areas on your face.
Vitamin K, helps the under-eye area when used topically. Therefore, add a little Vitamin K to your regular facial cream and apply each night.
Hope this helps!
Hi Bev,
I have just had a bad breakout of acne and have tried so many different products that don’t work. Is this type of treatment likely to make my skin even worse before it is made better? Do you melt the raw honey slowly and apply it to the face while it is still warm or wait for it to cool?
Thank you! Awesome article!
Hi Shannon: Sorry about your acne breakout. It can be very discouraging, but take heart!! There are many, many things you can do to help. I haven’t written an article specifically about acne, but I will in the near future. You can probably use these treatments with no adverse reaction (I say probably because everyone is different), but first, why not try this. Take manuka honey and use that to wash your face. Do not heat it or anything, just straight out of the jar. Massage into your wet skin, leave on for a few minutes, then rinse with water. Follow up with a toner of apple cider vinegar (very diluted with water) on a cotton ball. Also, if you are not using a probiotic, then it may be a good idea because if your digestion isn’t good, it will certainly show up in your skin. Fermented foods that contain probiotics is excellent. Sauerkraut is my favorite, and kimchi or kefir; you can also take it in gel caps.
Acne can be caused by many things, but since I don’t know your history, I can’t give you targeted information. But the above info is a good start. Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! I will give those things a go. I never really use to have issues with acne – only really started when I began to take the pill.. Well, it’s the only thing I can link it to. I eat so clean, and exercise often so its really hard to put a finger on what’s causing it! But, i will give these more natural remedies a go and cross all my fingers and toes that they work!
Thanks again x
Hi Shannon! The pill can certainly cause hormonal changes and that can affect your skin for sure. Congrats on eating clean and exercising because these things will help. Sometimes it’s not one thing but a combination of things that, together, really help the skin. Let me know your progress on using “natural” for your skin.

Hi Daisy: Yes you can wash your face right after using the cucumber mixture. Let it sit on for about 10 minutes or so before washing off for the best results.

Hello Bev,
Can you suggest some tips for puffy eyes. How to reduce them?
Its really embarrassing for me (people say I look like I’ve just woken up or something).
Please help.
Dear Rahul:
Eye puffiness can be caused by many things, but the most common is a fluid build up around the eye tissue. So the question is what can be done to reduce the fluid? Thankfully, there are many things you can do. First, look at your diet. If you are eating high salt foods and not enough water, it may cause the puffiness. Try eating more fresh fruits and vegetables. These are loaded with natural water and help to get rid of excess fluid in your body. Try a green vegetable and fruit smoothie. Even having lemon in your water helps to remove excess fluid. Apply something cold to your eyes such as a cool washcloth or even cucumber slices. You can also take your fingers and gently massage your face for about 10 minutes upon arising.
Try these suggestions and let me know if they helped 🙂

I have a tip for glowing face. Mix 1spoon of honey with half a spoon of milk(not boiled) and apply on your face with a cotton. keep it for 20 minutes and then wash your face with warm water. This gives a fresh look and glowing face. If you don’t have honey, Don’t worry Milk alone can do wonders on your skin.
ALL THE BEST 🙂
Thanks Bhavani!!
I have a article on this website entitled “Health Benefits of Milk and Honey – A Dynamic Duo”. Check it out.
Thanks!
I never knew there was so many uses for honey! If you are using honey for skin, does it make a difference if you use manuka honey or will any cheap honey from the supermarket me okay?
Hi: Although raw honey contains awesome qualities and is excellent for the skin, manuka honey is raw honey “on steroids”. Avoid honey from the supermarkets. Most of these honeys are processed to death and may be mixed with fillers – things such as corn syrup, and they may even contain harmful antibiotics. It is best to buy honey from health food stores or, even better, from a local beekeeper.
If you are baking, then it doesn’t matter as much if it is raw or not.
Hope this helps!

Pls what can i use to romove sun burn
Hi Bella: A good inexpensive remedy for treating sunburns is to take one tomato, 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt and 1 teaspoon of manuka honey. Mix it all together in a blender and put on the burn for about 1/2 hour. Store this mixture in the refrigerator covered, and you can use it as often as you want until the sunburn is healed. If the burn is severe or gets worse, you may need to have it check by a doctor.
Hope this helps.

This iss a very good ttip particularly to those fresh
to the blogosphere. Brief but very precise info…
Appreciate your sharing this one. A must read article!
Hello Bev,
Thanks for the great recipes! I will give them a try. In the meantime, do you know if and how honey can be used to hydrate the area around the eyes? Used as a mask, of course, not a leave on. 🙂
Thanks!
Hi Dina:
The areas around the eyes are very sensitive. But honey can help with these areas as it draws moisture to the area. You can use a good oil like coconut or almond oil and mix it with honey (just need about 1 tsp honey, 1/2 tsp oil) and apply lightly to this area and leave on for about 10 minutes, then remove gently. It should really improve the area. Thanks for your question 🙂

@bev hw can I appy honey to for my skin tobe lighting
Dear John: Honey with a mixture of baking soda or honey with lemon will help to lighten skin. Be careful not to use this mixture everyday, once or twice a week should be sufficient. Thanks!
hello! i have been using rose water as toner, can i possibly incorporate honey with it to make iteven better? thank you!
Hello Irish: Rose water is super excellent for skin. I wouldn’t use honey as a toner as it may leave a sort of residue on your skin. Honey is excellent, but it is best used in preparations that will require removal of the honey at some point – leaving your skin moisturized. A toner is meant to be left on. Hope this helps.
Bev
Can we apply everyday the honey? Can you tell me how many times a week i shoud do this? I have some black spots on my face? How to get rid of those n get a soft n shiny skin?
Hello Madhu: You can use any of these masks 2 – 3 times per week, it just depends on your skin type. If you want to remove the black spots, use the mask with the lemon as lemon helps to fade spots. Also, try to use natural products on your skin for better results. Rosehip seed oil is also very good at removing black spots on your face. See my article about essential oils for further information. Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for the suggestions. Tomato is excellent for the skin as it acts as a gentle exfoliator. Cucumber is also excellent – it really adds moisture to the skin.
